Flexitallic® Ring Type Joints

The Ring Type Joint was intially developed for high pressure/temperature applications found in the petroleum indutry, the main use bieng in the oil field on drilling and completion equipment. However, today this product range can also be found on valves and pipework assemblies, along with some high integrity pressure vessel joints. Standard Ring Type joints can be categorized into 3 groups:

Ring Type joint Style R

The Flexitallic® Ring Type Joint Style R is available in both oval and octagonal configurations, both types being interchangeable on the modern flat bottomed type groove flanges. Standard Style R Ring Type Joints are manufactured in accordancewith both API 6A and ANSI B16.20 size/ratings.

Ring Type joint Style RX

The Flexitallic® Ring Type Joint Style RX is a pressure energized adaptation of the standard Style R Ring Type Joint. As the RX is designed to fit the same groove design as a Standard Style R, the joints are interchangeable. The modified design uses a pressure energized effect which improves the efficiency of the seal as the internal pressure of the system increases.

Ring Type joint Style BX

The Style BX pressure energized Ring Type Joints, maufactured in accordance with API 6A, are designed for use on pressurized systems upto 20,000 psi. The style BX gasket, when correctly fitted , allows virtual face to face contact on the flange faces which means that the gasket is fully trapped on both the inner and outer diameters. All BX gaskets incorporate a pressure balance hole to ensure equalization of pressure which may be trapped in the grooves.

Gasket Style CG

This Product utilizes and external ring which accurately centers gasket on flange face, providdes additional radial strength to prevent gasket blow-out and acts as a compression stop. It is a general purpose gasket suitable for use with flat faced and raised face flanges upto and inclusive class 2500. Above class 600 an internal ring is recommended.

Gasket Style CGI

This product is a style CG gasket fitted with an internal ring which gives an additional compression limiting stop, and provides heat and corrosion barrier, protecting gasket windings and preventing flange erosion. The style CGI is suitable for flat faces and raised flanges and specialized for high temperature/pressureservice - class 900lb and above or where corrosive or toxic media are present.

Gasket Style R

Basic construction type. Inner and Outer diameters are reinforced with several piles of metal without filler to give greater stability and better compression and sealing characteristics. This product is suitable for tongue and groove or male or femaleor grooved to flat faced flange assemblies.

Gasket Style RIR

Solid inner metal ring acts as a compression stop and fills the annular space between flange bore and the inside diameter. This product is designed to prevent accumulation of solids, reduce turbulent flow of process fluids and minimize erosion of flange surfaces. Suitable for male and female pipe flanges.
